Children and Adolescents
When a child struggles it is painful to the child and to the parents. Working with children and adolescents requires close communication and guidance with parents. Contact with other arenas which impact a child’s life can also be important in treatment. School observations can be provided as well as a behavioral plan for teachers. A variety of modalities are utilized when treating children and adolescents such as:
Individual Play Therapy
Sand Tray Therapy
Mindfulness Techniques
Traditional Psychotherapy
Cognitive-Behavioral Techniques
Experiential/Wilderness Therapy
Human/Nature Experience Groups
Middle and High School Groups
Human/Nature Experience groups combine traditional psychotherapy with experiential/wilderness therapy. Human/Nature groups are an exciting and rewarding way to learn. These co-educational groups offer the opportunity to enhance both interpersonal and personal growth.
Human/Nature Experience utilizes the outdoors because nature can reflect, heal and sometimes absorb our feelings. Outside, participants have the chance to breathe deeply, move and relax using their senses. Participants become aware of nature’s greatness and how a personal connection with nature can help open the possibilities for a deeper understanding of ourselves and our connection to others.
Partnerships with area parks and other experts allow participants to have on the trail experiences as well as a chance to restore the earth with service projects.
Family
For many the stresses of life, together with family conflicts create a challenging and sometimes painful living situation. Family therapy can offer a safe environment to resolve conflicts and build understanding. At times it is necessary to bring in a fresh perspective and guidance regarding difficulties at home.
Adults
Adults are often asked to juggle multiple demands and responsibilities. Therapy can provide a setting to give yourself the time to fully realize your own needs and to find a more satisfying balance. Once we have addressed the issues that have prevented psychological growth, a revealing and ultimately a healing process takes place.
